As you probably know by now, Naturalia Beauty puts great care and resources into developing our products' formulas. We take our inspiration for formulas and ingredients from Mother Nature in order to create products that will bring you closer to your skin-care goals.
Shea butter is a complex fat that’s extracted from the nuts of the shea tree. It’s solid at warm temperatures and has an off-white or ivory color. Shea trees are native to West Africa, and most shea butter still comes from that region.
Part of the reason why shea butter has always been a great skin-care ingredient is its content of fatty acids: oleic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, linolenic acid and arachidic acid. It also contains the vitamins A, E and F.
These natural benefits, together with the fact that shea butter immediately melts when applied on the skin, makes it a perfect ready-to-go moisturizer.
Fun Fact: shea butter is technically a tree nut product, but unlike most tree nut products, it’s very low in the proteins that can trigger allergies. In fact, there’s no medical literature documenting an allergy to topical shea butter.
What is Shea Butter is mostly loved for:
Although essentially having an oily consistency when applied to the skin, shea butter gets rapidly absorbed without creating a shiny effect, not even when applied on the face. This is due to the high levels of linoleic and oleic acids which shea butter contains.
Secondly, as said before, shea butter provides your skin with precious vitamins A, E and F which are antioxidant agents. Antioxidants protect your skin from free-radicals, one of the responsible factors of premature ageing and dull-looking complexion.
